Common adds an emotional verse to Solange’s “A Seat At The Table” highlight.
Common was so inspired by Solange’s single “Cranes In The Sky,” that he’s decided to release an unofficial remix. The Chicago vet, who is currently prepping his 11th studio album Black America Again adds an emotional verse to the opening string section of the song. He tells FADER the song has “sound of forever,” and his new addition to the song feels in touch with this reading, as Common jumps through time, recalling the “everlasting love” he’s experienced, and musing on how he’s “never settled in life so it’s hard to settle down.”

Solange recently said that she felt “like a better human” after releasing the album, which became her first to top the charts. It seems she’s not the only one who was so deeply affected by the music.

Quotable Lyrics:
Don’t touch my hair, I’m bald-headed
Kept my love locked down like it was all dreaded
Wishing for wings again so I can spread it
For now it’s in a plastic cup, a fall beverage
